Lesson 11: Personal Learning Networks
What does your PLN look like? You may already have a PLN, just didn’t realize your handful of favorite websites had a name. Share on your blog some of your online resources and what you have gained from them.
Since I coordinate the events, programs, and activities for the Igo Seniors Group, the Elderberries, I am constantly searching for new ideas or experiences from others who work with the ever-growing senior population. The PBS website, NextAvenue, is the public broadcasting website for people 50+. I regularly receive their newsletter, and always find it chucked full of interesting topics and ideas. I also subscribe to a blog called ElderChicks, which keeps me in touch with older women around the world. I even found a German woman from Kiel who was looking for an American PenPal, so I correspond with her in both German and English. Since our very successful Senior Speed Connect@Igo event for Older Americans month in May, I was invited by the ALA Programming Librarian website to write up the event for that website.
